Hanging With The Elephants

In every Russian/Ukrainian girl's life, there comes that special day when she has to attend a friend's birthday party at a Ukrainian/Russian banquet hall. We were invited to the newly-opened and modernly renovated Livadia Banquet Hall in Mississauga owned by the birthday girl's friends.

This means one has to face a fashion dilemma of what to wear.

The question is of a high importance as the crowd at these establishments always varies and you have to mate your causal Canadian style with the "Who has more gold jewelry" 90s Russian Style.
-Should I embrace a long silk dress with a cut out up-to-my-costume (aka vagine, I learned the fancy term: "costume" at my Power Yoga class) with an abundance of gold jewelry?
-Or should a I wear the tightest faux silk dress where my breasts are chocking with a pair of my tallest uncomfortable heels?
- Perhaps go with any wild animal print dress (in silk or stain preferably) accessorized with the flashiest necklaces and faux diamond drop earrings?
- What about the white fabric boots with elaborate shoe-lacing combined with a tight pant and a low cut silver top?
-And as for a hair spray/black liner/red lipstick with contour, how much is too much?
I decided to go with my recently delivered and fabulous as flamingos - ASOS Elephant Print Shirt. It speaks volumes to me, and I bet it spoke weird to many others (great success!). This shirt stands for being corporate with a twist, as in serious fun of crawling elephants on a regular shirt. I paired it up with my 2008's BCBGMaxAzria hooker bubble skirt with a 2012's BCBGMaxAzria thick gold buckle belt, which shifted to the side from the centre on the picture.
I felt it was a perfect outfit for a Russian/Ukrainian mentality to comprehend (note: I am talking about the stuck in the late 80's-early 90's crowd): 1) I had a short skirt 2) I had high heels 3) There was an animal print - the whole elephant!!! - which I thought was a level above the leopard print 4) I had a large gold bling on my belt yet without Prada or D&G on it in a huge print, and 5) I had a fair amount of hair spray on my hair, which disappeared by the end of the night.
That is how I celebrated success :)
As I mentioned aforehead, at these banquets you always get to see at least 10 of your immigrant Russian/Ukrainian friends - and I got to see my friend/acquaintance Eteri. She rocked, yes rocked, 60s inspired cherry print Mendocino dress. Betty Draper, are you jealous yet? Are you, are you?
